My Approach to Family Mediation
What it’s like to work with me.
HOW DOES MEDIATION WORK?
WHAT IS THE PROCESS?
As a Certified Mediator, I have witnessed firsthand the detrimental impact the court process can have, regardless of your social class. That's why I am dedicated to providing a transformative approach to resolving conflicts and helping families find peaceful resolutions.
I am here to guide you through your separation journey from the very beginning, as I will ensure that your goals are not only heard but advocated for. My approach is rooted in extensive research and a commitment to fostering understanding, empathy, and growth that is customized based on your level of “amicability”.
By choosing me as your mediator, you can expect:
A Research-Based Approach: My practice is grounded in the latest research and best practices in conflict resolution. I combine my expertise with a deep understanding of the unique dynamics that arise in family disputes, ensuring that you receive the most effective and tailored guidance.
A Safe and Supportive Environment: I create a safe and supportive space where you can openly express your concerns, fears, and aspirations. Through active listening and empathetic communication, I will help you and your family navigate through challenging emotions and find constructive solutions.
Holistic Resolution: I believe in addressing the underlying issues and interests of all parties involved. Rather than focusing solely on the surface-level disagreements often created by lawyers, I strive to uncover the root causes and work towards comprehensive resolutions that benefit everyone involved.
Together, we can pave the way for a more peaceful and empowering future for you and your family.
The issues that I may mediate include, but are not limited to:
Parental decision-making, and how this will look long term.
Child and spousal support calculations
Comprehensive short term parenting plans
Comprehensive financial statement including extraordinary expense sharing.
Extended family involvement
Mediation agreement formatted to as a Separation Agreement to a smoother Lawyer transition
What does the mediation process look like?
-
Exploration call with both parties
Separate individual intakes
Agree to all move forward in good faith, and book your sessions
Typically 3 two hour sessions are enough to settle most disputes, extra sessions can customized into our goals if needed.
All joint sessions are split equally between both clients.
Once you resolve any issues, you will receive a written Memorandum of Understandings, this is a document simply outlining what you collaboratively agreed upon. This is not legally binding, and is confidential starting from the intake process.
From here, you can choose whether to hire a lawyer for independent legal advice to incorporate those terms into a formal separation agreement. Once it is signed, it becomes a legally binding document.
